Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis has announced that the team has reached an agreement with free agent QB Derek Carr on a four-year contract.

Derek Carr On 4-year Contract With New Orleans Saints

Loomis, the New Orleans Saints general manager, expressed his enthusiasm in welcoming Derek Carr to the team, citing his experience, leadership, and skillset as valuable assets to the Saints' offense.

Meanwhile, the Saints' Head Coach Dennis Allen shared his admiration for Carr, whom he previously worked with during the start of Carr's professional football career. Allen commended Carr's work ethic, approach to the game, and his continuous improvement throughout the years. He also acknowledged Carr's development into one of the most productive quarterbacks in the NFL.

Allen expressed his excitement in working with Carr and the rest of the Saints team during the offseason.

Derek Carr Played For The Raiders Before Going To The New Orleans

Derek Carr was originally drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft, being selected 36th overall out of Fresno State. The 6'3", 210-pound quarterback spent his first nine seasons with the Raiders before being acquired by the New Orleans Saints.

Throughout his career, Carr has started all 142 regular season games he has played in, completing 3,201 out of 4,958 passes for a 64.6 percent completion rate.

He has amassed a total of 35,222 yards, thrown 217 touchdown passes, 99 interceptions, and earned a 91.8 passer rating. In addition to his passing ability, Carr has also contributed 845 rushing yards and scored six touchdowns.

During his time with the Raiders from 2014-2022, Carr earned four Pro Bowl selections (2015-2017, 2022) and set various team passing records. These include the franchise's all-time passing yardage and touchdown pass records, as well as the single-season record for passing yards with 4,804 yards in 2021.

Additionally, Carr holds franchise records for games with multiple-touchdown passes (69), games with a passer rating of at least 100.0 (47), and 300-yard passing contests (33).
